Football Game Preview: Northfield Nighthawks vs. Montbello Warriors

The Northfield Nighthawks will square off against the Montbello Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Northfield put up the most points they have all season on Saturday. They walked away with a 37-28 victory over Thomas Jefferson. The win was nothing new for the Nighthawks as they're now sitting on three straight.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Montbello's strategy against Aurora Central on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Warriors blew the Trojans out of the water with a 49-18 final score.

Montbello's win came from a few key players Northfield will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Amari Williams, who rushed for 113 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. Zyaire Custis was another key player, gaining 69 total yards and two touchdowns.

Northfield's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Montbello, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Everything came up roses for Northfield against Montbello when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 61-7 victory. In that game, the Nighthawks amassed a halftime lead of 48-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
