Maria Carrillo posted their closest win since March 13th on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Rancho Cotate Cougars 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Pumas in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

Rachaely Yaya was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Whitney Cia, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Maria Carrillo's record now sits at 8-6. As for Rancho Cotate, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Maria Carrillo wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 17-5 win against Ukiah on the 12th. As for Rancho Cotate, they will be playing at home against Sonoma Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
