Basketball Recap: Wilmer-Hutchins Comes Up Short

Wilmer-Hutchins lost against Lincoln back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wilmer-Hutchins Eagles were dealt a 78-46 defeat at the hands of the Lincoln Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 964th, while the Tigers are ranked 423rd).

Despite the loss, Wilmer-Hutchins had strong showings from Dezmond Williams, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 15 points and five boards, and Antonio Mcmillon, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Dorien Brown, who earned nine points.

Wilmer-Hutchins has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-24 record this season. As for Lincoln, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-18.

Coming up, Wilmer-Hutchins will be playing in front of their home fans against Conrad at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilmer-Hutchins is facing Conrad at the right time seeing as Conrad is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Lincoln, they are taking a road trip to square off against Roosevelt at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Lincoln's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 15 games.
