Baseball Game Preview: Georgetown Eagles vs. Cedar Ridge Raiders

The Georgetown Eagles will challenge the Cedar Ridge Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Georgetown has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Georgetown fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Dripping Springs on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Cedar Ridge had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Knights.

Cedar Ridge got a great performance from Riggs Gordon as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Gordon a new career-high.

At the plate, Cedar Ridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kasen Langerhans, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Georgetown has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-11-1 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Cedar Ridge, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6-1.
