Basketball Recap: Filer Comes Up Short

Filer lost to Sugar-Salem back in December of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wildcats fell 56-50 to the Diggers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Diggers are ranked sixth).

When it comes to explaining why Filer lost, don't look at Cache Palmer. Despite the final result, he went 9-for-12 to rack up 19 points and seven rebounds. Palmer has become a key player for the Wildcats: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 15 points, but 3-8 otherwise. Bryker Darrington was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Filer dropped their record down to 5-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Sugar-Salem, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.

Filer didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-51 win against Marsh Valley on the 17th. As for Sugar-Salem, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-51 victory against Teton on the 22nd.
