Baseball Recap: Whitman-Hanson Regional Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Duxbury typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Whitman-Hanson Regional proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Dragons. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Dragons back in April, they had to take a 8-2 defeat.

Tom Crowley tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Whitman-Hanson Regional saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preston George, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Whitman-Hanson Regional is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That lines up perfectly with their 12-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Duxbury, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4-1.

Whitman-Hanson Regional and Duxbury should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 32nd) will meet Marshfield (ranked 207th) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Duxbury will take on Silver Lake Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (29 vs. 169).
