Basketball Recap: Avalon Black Knights vs. Roosevelt Roughriders
If Avalon was feeling good fresh off their 77-28 takedown of Washington Waldorf two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Avalon Black Knights were beaten by the Roosevelt Roughriders 80-44 on Monday.
Several Black Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Fox, who earned 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Toran Ayana, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Roosevelt found their leader in sophomore Gabriel Hudgens, who went 9 for 12 en route to 20 points plus five assists and four steals. That's the most assists Hudgens has posted since back in December of 2023. Anton Arrington was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Avalon's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Avalon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-30 defeat against Archbishop Carroll on the 3rd. Roosevelt has also already played their next matchup, an 81-49 victory against Idea on the 4th.
