League recap: League supremacy in the balance for Palmer Ridge, Cheyenne Mountain this week

4A Pikes Peak league recap: 3/20/13

First place in the standings of 4A Pikes Peak is up for grabs this week, as Cheyenne Mountain sits tied atop the standings with Palmer Ridge.

Sand Creek outperformed the rest of the league this week, as its two total wins led the league. The Scorpions beat Woodland Park 5-4.

Air Academy's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only two hits and one walk, both of which led the league.

Glen Thompson had a torrid week in the league for Vista Ridge, as he led in hits, RBIs and batting average. Thompson dominated the league's pitching staff this week with an impressive .583 average and six RBIs thanks to seven hits.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Andrew Quigley, who turned in five Ks for the Wolves. With seven strikeouts this year so far, he ranks third in the league.



Jacob Mcdowell drove in four runners on Monday in Falcon's 12-5 victory over Vista Ridge. He went 3-for-4 and scored two runs.

Michael Levar struck out 13 in the Indians' 8-5 win over Lewis-Palmer on March 19. He gave up six hits and four runs over six innings of work.
