Soccer Game Preview: St. Thomas More Academy vs. Trinity Academy

The St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors will venture away from home to take on the Trinity Academy Tigers at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. St. Thomas More Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.2 goals per game this season.

St. Thomas More Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Thales Academy Apex a 2-0 shutout. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but St. Thomas More Academy were the better team in the second half.

Maire Kelly and Juliana Larson scored both of St. Thomas More Academy's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 31 goals.

Meanwhile, Trinity Academy hasn't lost a match since March 6th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Cary Christian with a sharp 4-0 win. Considering Trinity Academy have won eight matchups by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Trinity Academy pushed their record up to 10-2-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five contests. As for St. Thomas More Academy, their record is now 10-7-1.

St. Thomas More Academy suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Trinity Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Chancellors were down 6-1.
