Basketball Recap: New Life Christian Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact New Life Christian can now relate to. They were beaten by KIPP University Prep 70-39 on Monday. The Eagles were down 54-31 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Sergio Murillo was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 17 boards for KIPP University Prep. That's the most rebounds Murillo has posted since back in January of 2024. A'Amir Caston-Welch was another key player, going 7 for 10 en route to 14 points and eight boards.

The victory was the fourth in a row for KIPP University Prep, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.

New Life Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for KIPP University Prep, they will square off against San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. One thing working in San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 17 contests.
