Softball Game Preview: Ewing Blue Devils vs. Robbinsville Ravens

Ewing hasn't had much luck against Robbinsville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Blue Devils will host the Ravens at 4:00 p.m. This will be Ewing's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

On Tuesday, Ewing came up short against Hightstown and fell 6-3.

Sydney Mahan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Robbinsville didn't have quite enough to beat Immaculata on Wednesday and fell 7-6. The loss put an end to the Ravens' undefeated start to the season.

Lexi Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 14 Ks.

At the plate, Robbinsville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Grodsky, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. Another was Katie Murphy, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Ewing now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Robbinsville, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Ewing's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's match. The Blue Devils have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Robbinsville, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Ewing continue to outrun the ball?

Ewing came up short against Robbinsville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
