Lewisburg scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 70-63 defeat to the Saltillo Tigers. The Patriots' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Saltillo found their leader in sophomore Crayden Shannon, who went 9 of 19 en route to 25 points. The match was Shannon's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Shannon, who posted 17 points.

Lewisburg now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Saltillo, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lewisburg will host Southaven at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Saltillo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Panola at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
