Baseball Recap: Eau Claire North Takes a Loss

Eau Claire North extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-6 in the process. They fell 4-1 to the Menomonie Mustangs. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Menomonie, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

For Menomonie's part, the team relied heavily on Owen Welch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave Welch a new career-high.

While Eau Claire North had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
