Basketball Preview: Oroville Tigers vs. Gridley Bulldogs

Oroville has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Gridley Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Oroville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Tuesday.

Oroville struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Cardinals had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Oroville lost to the Cardinals at home by a decisive 52-38 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oroville in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the defeat, Oroville had strong showings from Kevin Taylor, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Jantzen Demitrial, who scored 11 points.

Meanwhile, Gridley stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 74-53 margin over Orland. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Gridley just coasted through the last quarter.

Oroville has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Gridley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-6.

Oroville was taken down by the Bulldogs 59-29 in their previous meeting back in January. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Oroville was down 31-10.
