Softball Game Preview: Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs vs. Perry Meridian Falcons

For the second straight game, Franklin Community will face off against Perry Meridian. The Grizzly Cubs will take on the Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Franklin Community's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.

Franklin Community got their first taste of in-conference action on Tuesday and they started things off strong. They blew past Perry Meridian 13-4. The victory continues a trend for the Grizzly Cubs in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won five in a row.

Bryleigh Carlisle-Haltom spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Franklin Community let Aubrey Leugers and Adeline Blackwell run wild. Leugers went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs, while Blackwell scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs Blackwell has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Madynn Grant, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Franklin Community kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive contests.

Franklin Community now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Perry Meridian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-4.

Perry Meridian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Franklin Community has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11 hits per game. It's a different story for Perry Meridian, though, as they've been averaging 11.4 hits.
