Basketball Game Preview: River Valley Raiders vs. Dawson-Bryant Hornets

The River Valley Raiders will face off against the Dawson-Bryant Hornets at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

River Valley is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Athens just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a hard 57-38 fall against the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 61st).

Meanwhile, after only 25 points in their last contest, Dawson-Bryant made sure to put some points up on the board against Gallia Academy on Thursday. Dawson-Bryant walked away with a 55-42 victory over Gallia Academy.

Dawson-Bryant is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. As for River Valley, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5.

River Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Dawson-Bryant when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 44-39 win.
