Softball Game Preview: Wells Pirates vs. Neches Tigers

The Wells Pirates will face off against the Neches Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Wells' hitters haven't had much luck over their past six matchups, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wells came up short against Neches on Tuesday, falling 18-2.

For Neches' part, Joely Jenkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Jenkins was even better at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those RBI were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Aubrey Kincade was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Kacie Trimble, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Neches always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .955. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Neches moved to 1-4 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Wells, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6-1.
