It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Paris ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Lexington Christian Eagles. This was payback for the Greyhounds, who suffered a 10-0 loss the last time these two teams met.
Kendell Baldwin made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over nine innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off 13 hits (and not a single walk). Those hits were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Kay Oliver was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Paris' win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-1. As for Lexington Christian, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.
Paris didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-7 victory against Powell County on the 24th. Lexington Christian has also already played their next contest (against Berea), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
