Baseball Recap: West Anchorage Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but West Anchorage ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Dimond Lynx 9-8. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Owen Tierney was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Boots, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

West Anchorage's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-9. As for Dimond, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Anchorage will welcome Bartlett at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles are facing the Golden Bears at the right time seeing as the Golden Bears are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Dimond, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Bettye Davis East Anchorage at 5:15 p.m.
