Softball Recap: Trico Pioneers vs. Goreville Blackcats
Trico barely beat Goreville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pioneers blew past the Blackcats 12-2 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Trico got a great performance from Lily Ebers as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Hayleigh Franklin and Emma Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Franklin scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Williams scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Williams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Rathert, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Trico was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Goreville only posted a batting average of .150.
