Softball Game Preview: Oxford Wolverines vs. Shepaug Valley Spartans

The Oxford Wolverines will face off against the Shepaug Valley Spartans at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Oxford will be strutting in after a win while Shepaug Valley will be coming in after a defeat.

While Wolverines fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Wednesday's season opener. They put the hurt on Waterbury Career Academy with a sharp 17-1 victory on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Shepaug Valley came up short against Lewis Mills on Thursday and fell 6-2. Shepaug Valley hasn't had much luck with Lewis Mills recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Oxford came out on top in a nail-biter against Shepaug Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
