Central Mountain took a three-goal loss the last time they faced off against Midd-West, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Mustangs on Wednesday. The win was all the more spectacular given Central Mountain's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Midd-West are ranked 25th).

Tim Brinker and Kullen McDermit scored both of Central Mountain's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Central Mountain's record is now 8-5-3. As for Midd-West, with the defeat, they broke their six-match winning streak and moved their record to 13-2-1.

Coming up, Central Mountain will venture away from home to face off against Altoona at 7:30 p.m. on the 16th. As for Midd-West, they will welcome Warrior Run at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Midd-West have won three straight at home, while Warrior Run won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
