Game recap: East Lake High School Football Team beats St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The defense contributed on the scoring end for East Lake (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) on Saturday, totaling 14 points as the Eagles beat St. Petersburg (Fla.) 54-0.

After taking the lead on a Weston Fordham touchdown run in the first quarter, the Eagles led 36-0 at the half.

East Lake grew its lead to 47 points entering the fourth quarter. EL scored two times in the third, including once on a field goal by Daniel Lacamera.

The Tarpon Springs school scored 29 points in the second quarter on the way to a win. The Eagles scored on a Fordham touchdown run, a defensive touchdown, a touchdown run by Fordham and a Jake Hudson touchdown pass to Artavis Scott in the quarter.



East Lake went into the matchup giving up only 6.2 points per game. The zero points that the Green Devils ended with were well below their average of 28.0 coming into the game. St. Petersburg came in giving up 17.2 points per game this season. SP had a hard time against East Lake's offense, which entered the game scoring 41.0 points per game.

The Tarpon Springs school (10-0) will play a playoff game against Palmetto next week. The Tigers have put together a 5-4 record on the year so far.
