Preview: Cienega Bobcats vs. Desert View Jaguars
Cienega is 7-1 against Desert View since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Cienega Bobcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Desert View Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Cienega came up short against Tucson High Magnet School and fell 51-41. Cienega has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mia Kelley, who scored ten points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Puente, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Desert View's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 48-17 loss at the hands of Cholla. Desert View has struggled against Cholla recently, as their game on Monday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Cienega has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Desert View, they bumped their record down to 2-15 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Cienega against Desert View in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 as the squad secured a 61-13 victory. Will Cienega repeat their success, or does Desert View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
