Basketball Recap: Leetonia Skates Past Academy for Urban Scholars with Ease

Leetonia's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Academy for Urban Scholars Hawks 55-20. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 44-12 last Tuesday.

Leetonia's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Weikart, who posted eight points and six rebounds. Dylan Brown was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Leetonia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Leetonia now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Academy for Urban Scholars, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Leetonia wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 45-30 loss against Mineral Ridge on the 11th. As for Academy for Urban Scholars, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on East Palestine at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th.
