Preview: Rolesville Rams vs. Wake Forest Cougars

The Rolesville Rams will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Wake Forest Cougars at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Rolesville's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last ten contests.

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Rolesville had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 62-0 victory over Purnell Swett at home. Considering Rolesville has won nine matchups by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rolesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braden Atkinson, who threw for 211 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Thomas, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.

Meanwhile, Wake Forest can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 42-19 margin over Garner. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Wake Forest as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Rico Alston was a one-man wrecking crew for Wake Forest as he rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Wake Forest also got help from Jeffrey Coleman who showed off his sure hands for 80 receiving yards.

Rolesville has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 10-1 Butler and 9-2 Cardinal Gibbons (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 55.5% over those games). As for Wake Forest, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Everything came up roses for Rolesville against Wake Forest in their previous meeting back in October as the squad secured a 75-27 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Wake Forest's Kavon Simmons, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Rolesville still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
