The Newton Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Richland County Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Newton, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Richland County's (thus far) undefeated season.

Gavyn Cothern continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 134 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 143 yards on only 11 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 109 rushing yards dating back to last season. Dirks Weiler got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Newton's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Richland County, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Newton was able to grind out a solid victory over Richland County in their previous meeting back in September of 2023, winning 28-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for Newton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
