Basketball Recap: Compass Rose Legacy Polar Bears vs. Sunnybrook Christian Lions
The Compass Rose Legacy Polar Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They fell to Sunnybrook Christian 34-28.
Several Polar Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Angela Ruiz, who almost dropped a double-double on nine rebounds and 14 blocks. Ruiz is crushing the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Alyssa Frausto was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Compass Rose Legacy dropped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.7 points per game. As for Sunnybrook Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-9 record this season.
Compass Rose Legacy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on February 13th. As for Sunnybrook Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hoplites at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Founders Classical Academy's defense has only allowed 26.4 points per game this season, so the Lions' offense will have their work cut out for them.
