Waynesfield-Goshen will venture away from home to challenge North Baltimore at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Waynesfield-Goshen's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so North Baltimore's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Waynesfield-Goshen will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Hardin Northern, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Tigers blew past the Polar Bears 11-0 on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Tarynn Vorhes made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taryn Tate, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Makenna Shaw was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Waynesfield-Goshen lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, North Baltimore came tearing into Monday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They had just enough and edged out the Fighting Hornets 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since April 25, 2024.
Brynlee Schmidt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Kenzey Young was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh DeWitt, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Waynesfield-Goshen's record is now 5-3. As for North Baltimore, their record now sits at an identical 5-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Waynesfield-Goshen has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like North Baltimore struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Waynesfield-Goshen came up short against North Baltimore when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 4-0. Can Waynesfield-Goshen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
