Football Game Preview: Vega Longhorns vs. Gruver Greyhounds

The Vega Longhorns will face off against the Gruver Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Vega is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Farwell on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Longhorns had to suffer through a 46-13 loss at the hands of the Steers. The Longhorns have struggled against the Steers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gruver, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past Bovina, posting a 54-0 victory. Considering the Greyhounds have won five games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Gruver pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.0 points on average over those games. As for Vega, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
