Baseball Game Preview: Ridgeland Panthers vs. North Murray Mountaineers

Ridgeland is a perfect 3-0 against North Murray since February of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Ridgeland Panthers will take on the North Murray Mountaineers at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ridgeland has three straight victories, North Murray has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Ridgeland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Dade County 17-7 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Panthers have posted since March 7, 2024.

Bryson Duke and Joey Hayes did most of the damage at the plate: Duke scored four runs while going 1-for-3, while Hayes scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Those four runs gave Duke a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hunter Medrano, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple and two RBI.

Ridgeland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, North Murray fell victim to Pepperell and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons.

North Murray saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Skojac, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one double.

Ridgeland's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs over those games. As for North Murray, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Ridgeland was able to grind out a solid win over North Murray in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ridgeland since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
