Football Game Preview: Argyle Eagles vs. Walnut Grove Wildcats + How To Watch

The Argyle Eagles will challenge the Walnut Grove Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Argyle comes in on 11 and Walnut Grove on 12.

Argyle is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Cooper, posting a 77-35 win. The Eagles' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

A big part of Argyle's victory came down to the chemistry between Maguire Gasperson and his top target Julian Caldwell. Gasperson threw for 356 yards and six touchdowns while completing 86.4% of his passes while Caldwell picked up 181 receiving yards and four TDs. The dominant performance also gave Gasperson a new career-high in passer rating (165.7). Watson Bell was another key player, gaining 84 total yards and a touchdown.

Argyle didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nathaniel Bruce and Landon Howald. Argyle got some further help from Chase Bagley: he picked up two sacks and made 11 total tackles (5.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Walnut Grove took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 55-13 win over Lubbock-Cooper. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight contests by 25 points or more so far this season.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Cameron Newton and Chamayne Johnson Jr. Newton had a great game and rushed for 136 yards and five scores. Meanwhile, Johnson Jr did his best for the losing side, rushing for 101 yards and one touchdown.

Argyle's record now sits at 11-1. As for Walnut Grove, their record is now 12-0.

Argyle strolled past Walnut Grove in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 52-35. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
