Football Recap: Briarfield Academy Comes Up Short on the Road Against River Oaks + How To Watch

Briarfield Academy had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 22-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the River Oaks Mustangs. The match was a 6-6 toss-up at halftime, but the Rebels couldn't quite close it out.

When it comes to explaining why Briarfield Academy lost, don't look at Jack Woodall. Despite the final result, he rushed for 23 yards and one touchdown, and also caught one TD.

Briarfield Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jackson Thornton.

Looking ahead, Briarfield Academy will be playing at home against Porter's Chapel Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. River Oaks has already played their next game (against Riverfield Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
