Baseball Recap: East Chicago Central Takes a Loss

Wednesday just wasn't the day for East Chicago Central's offense. They came up short against the Highland Trojans on Wednesday, falling 14-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost seven in a row.

East Chicago Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abran Gomez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Gomez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

East Chicago Central now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Highland, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Chicago Central will host Lake Station Edison at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Fighting Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.77 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Highland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Griffith at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
