Basketball Recap: Sprayberry Comes Up Short

Sprayberry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. The match between them and the Sequoyah Chiefs didn't end well, with the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets falling 57-39. The Yellow Jackets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Chiefs earlier this season, when they won 42-32.

It was another big night for Milanni Abdus-Salaam, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards for Sequoyah. Abdus-Salaam's evening made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Carly Bass was another key player, putting up 12 points and four steals.

Sprayberry's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Sequoyah, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sprayberry will head out to face off against River Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in River Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 contests. As for Sequoyah, they will head out on the road to square off against Riverwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sequoyah is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season.
