Football Recap: Juarez-Lincoln Huskies vs. Lopez Lobos
Juarez-Lincoln had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 40-23 bruising from the Lopez Lobos. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.
Despite the loss, Juarez-Lincoln still got an impressive performance from John Menchaca, who rushed for 158 yards and one score on only 14 carries, and also threw for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Lopez found their leader in sophomore Ricardo Saucedo, who rushed for 179 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Angel Moreno was another key player, having thrown for 272 yards and two touchdowns.
Juarez-Lincoln has already played their next matchup, a 39-7 loss against Donna North on the 4th. As for Lopez, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 48-21 defeat against La Joya on the 5th.
