Baseball Recap: Andrews' Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Andrews's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Carvers Bay Bears a 5-0 shutout. The Yellowjackets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bears, too.

The result came thanks to Jaxon Baker's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks. Andrews is 2-1 when Baker posts eight or more strikeouts, but 2-4-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Bass, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Brycen Cannon was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

The victory snapped Andrews' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-5-2 record. As for Carvers Bay, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Andrews will host Woodland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carvers Bay, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Williamsburg Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Stallions will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight.
