Baseball Recap: Hayward Gets the Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Hayward ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the Chetek-Weyerhaeuser Bulldogs. The Hurricanes haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Caleb Springer, who went 3-for-6 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Xzavier Stojek was another key player, going 4-for-6 with two runs and two RBI.

Hayward picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 6-2. As for Chetek-Weyerhaeuser, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hayward will take on Spooner at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rails' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Hurricanes' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Chetek-Weyerhaeuser, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Croix Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs are facing the Saints at the right time seeing as the Saints are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
