Basketball Recap: Howard Takes a Loss

Howard lost against Cross Keys back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Howard Hawks were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 23-22 to the Cross Keys Phoenix.

Leading Cross Keys to victory were Kayleen Reyes and Marta Reyes. Kayleen went 6 for 12 on her way to 12 points and six steals, while Marta posted six points. Kayleen is becoming a predictor of Cross Keys' success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 2-1 (and 5-6 when she doesn't).

Howard's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-3. As for Cross Keys, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Howard will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cross Keys at 5:30 p.m. on January 14, 2025. As for Cross Keys, they will welcome Atlanta Jewish Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
