The Liberty Patriots will be taking part in a tournament against the Madera Coyotes at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Liberty is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Liberty's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 6-0 margin over Independence. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Rebecca Calvin's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lina Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Claire Williams, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Liberty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .391 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Madera made easy work of Golden Valley on Friday and carried off an 11-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Coyotes.
Kearney Opfergelt was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Opfergelt was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other pitching news, Jayleen Gutknecht looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Sadie Gonzalez was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Destinee Avila was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Liberty's record is now 4-0. As for Madera, their record now sits at 2-0.
