Volleyball Recap: Malcolm's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

If Malcolm was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Nebraska City on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Clippers fell just short of the Platteview Trojans by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Clippers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Malcolm sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 17-25, 25-20, 27-29, 15-12.

Malcolm's loss came despite strong showings from Allie Blair and Kenna Wilcox. Blair had 57 assists and ten digs, while Wilcox had 19 digs and one assist. Blair is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 18 every time she's taken the court this season.

Malcolm moved to 19-7 with that loss, which also ended their five-match winning streak. As for Platteview, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season.

Malcolm will face off against Ralston at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Platteview, they will square off against Blair at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
