Softball Recap: Covington Academy Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Covington Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 18-3 to the Scholars Guild Academy Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-2 two weeks ago.

Sydney Ellis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Peyton Ledoux also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Ellis wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Covington Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Covington Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Scholars Guild Academy, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Covington Academy will host Creekside Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Creekside Christian Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.75 runs per game on average), something Covington Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Scholars Guild Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Lyndon Academy at 4:00 p.m. Lyndon Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.67 runs per game on average), something Scholars Guild Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of.
