Baseball Recap: Jay Comes Up Short

Jay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Winn Mavericks. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mavericks earlier this season, when they won 7-6.

Jay handed starting duties to Luis Aguilar, who gave a strong showing despite the result: he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Jay saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Rodriguez, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Jacob Gonzalez was another, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Jay's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Winn, they moved to 11-16 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Jay wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-4 loss against Southwest Legacy on the 24th. As for Winn, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-0 victory against Southside on the 24th.
