Concord hasn't had much luck against Northwest Cabarrus recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Concord Spiders will challenge the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Concord took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against South Stanly, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Concord narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past South Stanly 6-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spiders.

Alexa Hooks made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and one double. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, Emilia Bradley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. Another player making a difference was Peyton Biggers, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Northwest Cabarrus got themselves on the board against Robinson on Tuesday, but Robinson never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Bulldogs as they made off with an 18-0 win. The Trojans have beaten the Bulldogs the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.
Northwest Cabarrus also got a great performance from Alianna Gettles as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Haylee Ellis, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Isabella Ellis was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI.
Concord now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Northwest Cabarrus, their record now sits at 4-2.
Concord's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. Concord has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Northwest Cabarrus, though, as they've been averaging only 0.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Concord continue to outrun the ball?
Concord suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Northwest Cabarrus in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Concord avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
