Softball Game Preview: Lower Merion Aces vs. Garnet Valley Jaguars

Lower Merion hasn't had much luck against Garnet Valley recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Lower Merion will host Garnet Valley at 3:45 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lower Merion took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Upper Darby, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Lower Merion narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Upper Darby 4-3. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Aces as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Tess Oelkers spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Lower Merion saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Gilligan, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Garnet Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Ridley on Monday, taking the game 4-1.

Alaina Sareyka was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Lower Merion's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-6. As for Garnet Valley, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
