Basketball Game Preview: Hollis-Brookline Cavaliers vs. Merrimack Valley Pride

The Hollis-Brookline Cavaliers will venture away from home to take on the Merrimack Valley Pride at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Hollis-Brookline has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Merrimack Valley will arrive with three straight wins.

Last Tuesday, Hollis-Brookline came up short against Lebanon and fell 56-47.

Meanwhile, Merrimack Valley hadn't done well against Hanover recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Merrimack Valley blew past Hanover, posting a 59-17 victory. The Pride have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Merrimack Valley's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Hollis-Brookline, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Everything went Hollis-Brookline's way against Merrimack Valley when the teams last played back in February of 2019, as Hollis-Brookline made off with a 60-36 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hollis-Brookline since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
