Basketball Recap: Lewiston Comes Up Short

Lewiston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Pawnee City Indians and fell 55-19. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Indians from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Lewiston's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Justice Currie, who posted nine points, and Delanye Currie, who scored eight points. That was a full 47.4% of Lewiston's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Pawnee City was led to victory by Kinsley Benson and Ericca Gyhra. Benson went 7 for 14 en route to 22 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Gyhra almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals. With that strong performance, Gyhra is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Emalyse Gottula, who had seven points in addition to 12 boards and three steals.

Lewiston's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Pawnee City, they moved to 5-10 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Lewiston has already played their next match (against Sterling), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pawnee City has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Exeter-Milligan/Friend.
