With a playoff win on the line, Springboro rose to the challenge on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Mason Comets. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won eight games in a row.

Jacob Rhinehart looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs but no hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Springboro got a big performance out of Jacob Cane, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Cane has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Vince Fortkamp, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Springboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Springboro's record is now 26-9. As for Mason, they moved to 22-7 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Springboro nor the Comets have any future games scheduled.
