Basketball Game Preview: Marion-Franklin Red Devils vs. Walnut Ridge Scots

Marion-Franklin hasn't had much luck against Walnut Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Marion-Franklin Red Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Walnut Ridge Scots at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Marion-Franklin will bounce into Friday's match after beating Briggs, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Marion-Franklin enjoyed a cozy 71-53 win over Briggs on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Walnut Ridge entered their tilt with Independence on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the 76ers 71-31. Given the Scots' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the 76ers are ranked 776th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marion-Franklin's record is now 2-8. As for Walnut Ridge, their record is now 8-3.

Marion-Franklin suffered a grim 87-65 defeat to Walnut Ridge in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Marion-Franklin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
