Ashland is 8-2 against North Eugene since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Grizzlies will square off against the Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Ashland had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Springfield on Tuesday. The Grizzlies put the hurt on the Millers with a sharp 9-3 win. The Grizzlies not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 18th (when they won 6-0).

Logan Trivette made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Trivette wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Malakai Chandler, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Chandler has posted since back in April of 2024. Phoenyx Pennell also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, North Eugene had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over North Salem on Wednesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Highlanders' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Like Ashland, North Eugene also got a great game from a two-way player: Duncan Roudabush. On the mound, Roudabush tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Mason Baer tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Roudabush has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Roudabush went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run, while Baer went 1-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Michael Buschelman was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Blake Singleton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Ashland's record is now 5-6. As for North Eugene, their record now sits at 4-10.
Everything went Ashland's way against North Eugene when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Ashland made off with a 12-3 victory. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Highlanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
